The album consists of songs that the he performed back in Canada in the early sixties and that made him the artist he is.
There are many strong songs on the album. I could mention all, but I just pick out a few. Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come”
treads on sacred ground, but he does a great job with it. ”You Really Got a Hold on Me”, with a nice harmonica on the opening section
and it’s bluesy arrangement. ”When a Man Loves a Woman”, the performance is so strong, and it’s one of the highlights of the album.
”Sunny” a great version of a great song in a rather stripped back arrangement. My favorite version of ”People Get Ready” is Rod Stewart with Jeff Beck.
But I really enjoyed David’s version, the mix of blues, soul and gospel works really well.
Producer Lou Pomanti has done great job in producing the album.
