David is backed by a quintet of Canada’s top jazz musicians and revisits classic jazz standards. "God Bless The Child" dispenses with the big brass arrangements from David's version on his Blood, Sweat and Tears debut album. The jazzy version on this album, featuring piano and drums, along with David's heartfelt vocals, stands up well by comparison. "September Song" is done in a bossa nova version to great effect. David also ventures into the blues on the songs "As Time Goes By," and "Stormy Monday Blues."
